It is fun being an elf during Christmas every year at Nielsens. It is also fun when it is over and I can again spend time with my family.
My two daughters, now 12 and 7, have been baking cookies and playing with art games and supplies given to them for Christmas. Last year at this time they were building snowmen and today it is almost 70 degrees so we will walk and ride bikes and shoot - or try to shoot- baskets. (this is a photo from only 5 yrs ago and they have changed a lot!- I have not- ha ha)
At Nielsens the Christmas items are on sale and Julia Knight and Waterford toasting flutes are hot items for New Year's Eve parties. People are also buying our new dips and sea salt pita chips from our new Gourmet Room.
Julia Knight told us of her great " idea for champaign flutes...she said "buy them in pairs"-
Then when couples come to your home, each couple gets a matching pair of flutes for champaign. Your collection of flutes will be beautiful and interesting when displayed and the glasses will be kept straight during your parties! The different pretty flute glasses will also make great interesting conversation starters!

My parents started Nielsens in 1946 and never could have imagined then that their gift shop would be selling gifts and helping people make their loved ones happy all over the world! The internet was not even a dream then! In 1946 they lived in the back of the store and there was a hitching post in front for horses! My dad, Art Nielsen, was the first person to sell Waterford in Oklahoma and my mom, Dorothy Verheyden Nielsen, was the first person to choose Lladro for an Oklahoma store. Those lines are still very well represented at Nielsens!
In the last few years Nielsens has added many new lines like Michael Aram, Vietri, Juliska, Beatrix Ball, Julia Knight, Match pewter, Tervis tumblers, Casperi papergoods, Penzo hand painted African pottery, Kenzig hand made lamps, gourmet foods and Jay Strongwater. We will be adding more at Market in a couple of weeks. If there are things you wish Nielsens would carry, please let us know! We want to make you happy!
New Year's Resolution:
Make a list of all the people that you love to buy gifts for -Include the reasons for giving: Christmas- birthday- anniversary-Valentine's Day- Mother's Day, etc. Then buy things for them when you see them- Have Nielsens wrap and tag them. We will even store them until time to give or send! By shopping early in an organized way, you will avoid the last minute panic! Remember that Nielsens has layaway! Shop now and save and you will be ready for all occasions in 2011!
